Beauty Savers stock a range of Nail Files and Buffers in many different styles and grits. A nail file and buffer are an essential tool in any manicure or pedicure treatment. We stock brands such as The Edge, CND, Jessica Cosmetics and Beauty International. These brands are the best selling in the nail industry and are loved by nail techs all over.

Nail files are used for grinding down long or broken nails whereas nail buffers are best designed for polishing the surface of your nails and cuticles. Nail buffers are more commonly used over the flat front of the nail rather than to trim down the nail.

Nail files are used to gently grind down and shape the edges of the nail. They are often used in manicure and pedicures after the nail has been cut. Nail files may be emery boards, straight, curved, ceramic, crystal or metal. Nail files come in a range of different grits depending on their use. With nail files the higher the grit, the smoother the file. Coarse files (80-100 grit) are best for acrylic nail extensions. Medium files (150-180 Grit) are best to shape extensions of medium thickness, like tips and to shape the free edge of toenails. 180 grit files are used to contour the whole nail, to prep natural nails before apply any product and also during manicures to shorten or shape the natural free edge. 240 Grit Nail Files are used to prep natural nails especially before gel polish application due to its low corrosive surface.

Nail buffers are made to give nails a shiny high gloss shine. Buffing your nails can increase blood circulation to the nail bed. Budding off the ridges also gives a smoother surface for nail polish to adhere to. You should buff your nails once a month, as any more than this you can end up damaging your nails and making them brittle. If done to often it can weaken you nails. Nail buffers come in grits too just like files. They are made with sponge which makes them softer. 100/180 Grit Buffers should be used first to prep natural nails for gel polish application, this particular grit eliminates scratches that can be created during filing and shaping. 220/280 grit can be used during manicure treatments to eliminate ridges from natural nails and make the nail surface smooth again.
